In the municipalities Retz and Retzbach there are a lot of siliceous dry grasslands which are precious from a nature conservation perspective. In recent years the level of scrub encroachment has been rising significantly and threatens the habitat dry grassland. Since autumn 2016 a project has been in progress, in the frame of which a grazing with sheep is realised on some areas in Retz. It is the current project’s target to realise all the necessary steps to guarantee the preservation of the diversity of species on the not at all or only less intensively cultivated dry grassland in Retzbach and Retz.
